HUMAN BODY - CAUSES OF DISEASE
Causes of Disease
TRAUMA: Disease caused by Injury or Surgery, where undesired un intended cuts of the knife injure unrelated organs
INFECTION: Disease caused by other living organisms invading normal tissue cells.
ACUTE INFECTION (Types: Gram positive & Gram negative bacteria)
CHRONIC INFECTION (Types: AFB positive & AFB negative bacteria)
INFLAMMATION: (NON INFECTIVE-AUTOIMMUNE/ CONNECTIVE TISSUE) The Defence mechanisms of the body is accidentally redirected to one’s own attacking normal body tissues.
DEGENERATIVE (AGE-ING) is due to Unavoidable processes of wear and tear of tissues due to ageing.
GROWTH (TUMOUR/CANCER): Tumours are swellings due to abnormal rate of growth of affected tissue. Tumours can be Benign or malignant in nature.
STRUCTURE (MANUFACTURING) DEFECT: Structural defects are present since birth may become evident later in life (CONGENITAL DEFECT).
METABOLIC (FUNCTION) DEFECT: These are defects in the chemical processes since birth affecting organ secretions or functions which may become evident later in life.
CHEMICAL ABUSE/ NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCY: Disease due to deficiency of essential nutrients or Overdose of a chemicals, namely drugs, poisons or intoxicants.
DRUGS (IATROGENIC): Disease due to unintended side effects of therapeutic drugs.
TYPES OF INFECTIONS:
Infections can be caused by any living organism. The below classification is based upon diminishing size of the organisms.
PARASITES: Roundworms: treated by ANTIHELMINTHICS
FUNGUS: Fungal infection of skin: treated by ANTI FUNGAL CREAMS
PROTOZOA: Malaria, Amoebic Dysentery: treated by QUININE DERIVATIVES
AEROBIC GRAM POSITIVE BACTERIA: treated by PENICILLINS & CEPHALOSPORINS
AEROBIC GRAM NEGATIVE BACTERIA: treated by QUINOLINES
ANAEROBIC BACTERIA: treated by PENICILLINS
SMALLER ORGANISMS: Dengue treated by broadspectrum antibiotics…….
VIRUSES: Influenza, Hepatitis TREATED BY: Antiviral Agents
